Since 2010, Walter Francis Allen Henderson has immersed himself in the craft of printmaking as both a student and practitioner. Under the guidance of Aaron Coleman, he managed operations at the University of Arizona Print Shop, while also learning from distinguished printmakers such as Andy and Kathryn Polk, Maestro Abraham Torres, and Per Anderson.
His work is deeply rooted in the tradition of printmaking, a medium that bridges popular and fine art realms. He views printmaking as a testament to craftsmanship and its significance in reflecting political and social movements. Through repetitive imagery, he explores the cyclical nature of history and mythology, illustrating how they shape our societal narratives.
Central to his practice is the concept of incarnation, where history and society emerge from both factual events and the narratives we construct around them. This notion underpins his exploration of the interplay between past events and contemporary interpretations, highlighting the fluidity and evolution of collective understanding.
